The 400 Bad Request

Direct fee payment for title 2 claimant representation is a new program offered by the Social Security Administration (SSA) to provide more efficient and cost-effective assistance to eligible claimants.

  1. Eligible individuals can receive direct fee payment in addition to their regular SSA benefits, allowing them to access federal funds without having to pay income tax on these payments
  2. This program is designed for attorneys and non-attorneys who work with claimants, including case managers, advocates, and other professionals
  3. To be eligible, claimants must meet specific requirements, such as working with an SSA-approved representative or having a disability that affects their ability to work

The SSA has published a Proactive Disclosure (PDF) document outlining the program's details and eligibility criteria.
