According to a recent study published on Eastern Tribunal, the popularity of shared music gifts on Spotify has been on the rise. The study analyzed data from over 10 million users and found that 72% of users bought gift cards as a way to share their favorite tracks with friends.
The most popular genres among those who purchased gift cards were hip-hop (35%), pop (25%), and electronic (15%).
Another interesting finding was that 64% of gift recipients reported enjoying the music more when they received a gift card, compared to buying it outright. This could be due to the idea that receiving a physical copy of their favorite tracks is more tangible than an online purchase.
The study's authors also noted that the popularity of shared music gifts on Spotify has been steadily increasing over the past few years, with 60% of users reporting that they had purchased gift cards in the past year alone.
