The Problem: Water Damage on iPads and Tables
Water damage to an iPad or table can be a disaster. Not only will it cause significant financial loss, but it also poses health risks if you're storing liquids inside the device.
Why Does Water Damage Happen?
Damp or wet conditions can lead to corrosion on internal components, such as the logic board. This causes a range of problems including data loss and device failure.
A good rule of thumb is to store liquids above 50°F (10°C). It's also essential to dry your device within 24 hours, or use desiccants like silica gel packets to absorb moisture.
What Can You Do?
When you spot water damage on your iPad or table, act quickly. Follow these steps:
- Turn off and unplug the device immediately.
- Remove any SIM cards, SD cards, or other accessories.
- Use a soft cloth to gently pat out excess water.
- Add silica gel packets or desiccant bags inside the device.
- Leave the device overnight and check again in the morning for signs of damage.
