Getting Started with Custom Maps

The first step in creating a custom map on Google My Maps is to create a new map. To do this, go to the Google My Maps website and click on "Create a map" in the top right corner. This will take you to a blank map page where you can start adding markers, shapes, and other visual elements.

To add custom markers to your map, click on the marker icon (a small blue circle) and drag it onto the map. You can also select from a variety of pre-made markers or import your own custom images.

Customizing Map Styles

Once you have added markers to your map, you can customize their styles by clicking on the "Styles" tab in the top left corner. Here, you can adjust factors such as font size and color to make your map more readable.

You can also add custom HTML code to your map's CSS file (usually found in the "Resources" section) to further customize its appearance.

Sharing Your Map

One of the benefits of using Google My Maps is that you can easily share your maps with others. To do this, click on the three dots next to the map title and select "Share". This will allow users to access your map from their web browser.

Alternatively, you can download a copy of your map as an image by clicking on the "Download" button in the top right corner. This can be useful for referencing or sharing with others who may not have access to your Google My Maps account.
