New Technology In Toyota Highlanders | California Herald

New technology has been integrated into the 2022 Toyota Highlander, enhancing its performance, convenience, and safety. One of the most exciting features is the available self-driving capability, which utilizes advanced sensor data to enable autonomous driving on certain roads.

Toyota's Self-Driving Capability is designed for select routes in California and Arizona. This feature allows drivers to take their hands off the wheel while traveling on designated highways. The system uses a combination of cameras, radar, and ultrasonic sensors to detect and respond to obstacles.

"The self-driving capability will make long road trips more efficient and enjoyable," said Toyota Motor North America CEO Mike Anderson. "We're committed to innovation and safety in our vehicles." The new technology is available on the XLE and Limited trims of the 2022 Toyota Highlander, with prices starting at $38,050 for the XLE.

Toyota has also enhanced its LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) safety system. This feature includes three points to secure children in a vehicle: the LATCH connectors, the seatbelts, and the 3-point harness. The LATCH system is designed to keep children safe during crashes by keeping them securely restrained.

"LATCH is an essential safety feature that has been updated for all new Toyota Highlanders," said Toyota's Senior Vice President of Global Safety, Mark Teresi. "It's a critical component in ensuring the well-being of our passengers and their children." The LATCH system can be found on all 2022 Toyota Highlander models, with prices starting at $1,200 for the base model.
