What are Earbuds?
Earbuds, also known as in-ear headphones or earphones, are a type of audio device that is designed to be worn on the ears. They consist of a small casing that houses one or more drivers, which convert sound waves into electrical signals that can be sent to an amplifier and then played through a speaker.
Types of Earbuds
- On-ear earbuds: These are the most common type of earbud, where the drivers are located on top of the head, within the casing. They provide a snug fit and are often preferred for their comfort.
- In-the-ear earbuds (IEMs): IEMs have drivers that are inserted into the ear canal, providing a more precise soundstage and bass response. They can be more expensive than on-ear earbuds but offer greater immersion.
- Over-ear earbuds: These are larger and more comfortable to wear than on-ear earbuds, with drivers positioned above the ears. They provide better isolation from background noise but may be less portable.
