This disparity can be attributed to several factors, including the lack of protection and visibility that motorcyclists often have compared to vehicle occupants. Motorcycles are also more difficult to detect, which can make it harder for drivers to react in time to avoid a collision.
Another study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) found that motorcycle riders were 28 times more likely to die in a crash than passenger vehicle occupants who were not wearing seatbelts, even though they accounted for only 0.6% of all registered vehicles on the road.
This highlights the importance of proper safety gear and adherence to traffic laws when riding a motorcycle. Motorcyclists should always wear a properly fitted helmet, follow traffic rules, and be aware of their surroundings at all times.
