**400 Bad Request** The sun was setting over the bustling streets of Washington D.C. as I sat at my desk, sipping on a cup of coffee and staring at my computer screen. As an attorney specializing in estate law, I had just received a call from the Social Security Administration (SSA) informing me that I would be eligible to receive direct fee payment for title claimant representation. The SSA has been making changes to its procedures for awarding title claimant benefits to attorneys and non-attorneys who meet specific criteria. One of the key changes is the introduction of a new protracted proceeding process, which allows eligible parties to receive reimbursement for their attorney fees under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). This is a significant development for our industry, as it provides more opportunities for us to provide high-quality representation to claimants while also ensuring that we are not overcharging for our services.
