What is a Blocked Drain?
A blocked drain is an issue that occurs when a pipe in your home or building becomes clogged with hair, soap scum, grease, and other debris. This can cause water to back up into the sink, shower, or bathtub, leading to a range of problems.
How to Clean it On Your Own?
- Start by turning off the main water supply to the affected area. This will prevent any further damage or mess.
- Use a plumber's snake (also known as an auger) to try and dislodge the blockage. Feed the snake into the drain and rotate it as you push it further into the pipe.
- If the blockage is more difficult to remove, consider using a chemical drain cleaner. However, be careful when using these products, as they can harm the environment or your health if not used properly.
Why Don't You Do it Themselves?
While it may seem like a simple task, cleaning a blocked drain can be a complex and messy process. The risks of damaging your pipes or causing a mess are too great to take on alone.
