Distracted driving remains one of the leading causes of road accidents worldwide.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), distracted driving can lead to an estimated 29,000 deaths and 221,000 injuries annually in the United States alone.

Drivers using cell phones while driving pose a significant risk due to the constant temptation of receiving calls or messages. However, there are steps drivers can take to minimize this risk and stay safe on the road.

Tips for Minimizing Distracted Driving Risk

• Set reminders: Set a timer to remind you not to check your phone or respond to messages during certain periods of time, such as when approaching an intersection or when turning.
• Ban texting and calls on your phone while driving: Consider putting your phone on silent mode or using a phone app that blocks distracting apps.
• Use hands-free technology: If you must use your phone while driving, consider investing in a hands-free device like Siri, Google Assistant, or Amazon Alexa.
• Pull over safely: If you feel the need to check your phone, pull over as soon as possible and take a break from driving.

Additionally, drivers can take steps to educate themselves about distracted driving laws in their state. Familiarizing yourself with local regulations can help minimize risk and stay safe on the road.
