Before You Continue To Google Maps

The "You are here" feature on Google Maps appears when you're in a new location and want to view the surrounding area. However, this feature can sometimes appear as a blank box, making it difficult for users to navigate.

To disable the "You are here" feature and view the map without it, follow these steps:

  1. Open Google Maps on your device or computer.
  2. Click on the "+" icon in the top right corner of the screen to access the menu.
  3. From the menu, select "Help" from the drop-down list.
  4. In the "How do I..." section, scroll down to the "Getting directions from a location" option.
  5. Clear the box that says "Show your current position."
  6. Click "OK" to save changes.

By disabling the "You are here" feature, you'll be able to view the map without it appearing as a blank box. However, keep in mind that some users may still want to see their current location marked on the map. You can enable this feature again by following the same steps above.
