Early Life and Education
Oliver Douglas Stone was born on September 15, 1946, in New York City to actor John William Stone and actress Sacheen Littlefeather. His mother later changed her name to Sacheen Nicole Stillman after marrying actor Rod Steiger. Oliver grew up in a family of artists and began acting at a young age, performing in school plays and eventually landing his first professional role on the TV show "The Streets of San Francisco."He attended Santa Monica High School in California before enrolling at UCLA to study drama. Stone's early career was marked by small roles in films like "A Good Friend" (1968) and "The Reivers" (1969).
Feature Film Career
Oliver Stone rose to prominence with the critically acclaimed film "Platoon" (1986), which he co-wrote, directed, and produced.
