What I Did On My Sabbatical: By Shelly Furuness Making Practice Public

Made possible by Butler University's Writing Center, this article shares the author's journey of embracing personal experiences and making public.

My 9-Day Trip to Florida

I embarked on a sabbatical trip to Florida with high hopes and excitement. The first few days were spent exploring the state's diverse landscapes, from the Everglades to the beaches of Key West.

Overcoming Fears and Discovering New Experiences

One of the most significant challenges I faced was overcoming my fear of public speaking. During a trip to the Kennedy Space Center, I had the opportunity to share my thoughts and experiences with a group of young people, which helped me build confidence in expressing myself.

Learning from Failures

I made several mistakes during my trip, including accidentally leaving my camera unattended in the car. However, I learned that it's essential to be resilient and adapt to unexpected situations. This experience taught me the value of staying calm under pressure and finding creative solutions.
