Tips For Homeowners After A Flooding Disaster

The news is not good for homeowners after a flooding disaster. The first step in rebuilding your home must be to assess the damage and take photos of the flooded areas before the insurance company sends over their adjusters.

• Document everything, including receipts, bills, and correspondence with insurance companies and utility providers.
• Take photos and videos of the flooding damage, as well as any personal belongings that were affected by the flood.
• Check your home's insurance policy to see if it covers flood damage. If not, you may need to purchase a new policy or file a claim with your current one.

In addition to insurance claims, homeowners should also take steps to prevent future flooding by addressing underlying issues such as poor drainage and failing septic systems.
